.: if i only had a clone... :.
Cloning and stem cell research represent the forefront of contemporary science and medicine. They have the combined potential to revolutionize the treatment of pathologies that currently have no or little effective treatment, including: AIDS, a range of neuropathologies such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, and mortality and aging in general (a loftier longer-term gerontological goal).

Contemporary restrictions on cloning and stem cell research are based more on archaic religious dogma and utter misunderstandings of the fundamental sciences rather than the progressive ethics they are purportedly based on (as put forth by USA's bioethics committee). While it is unfortunate that politicians and political affiliates often believe themselves to be more knowledgable about sciences than the scientists themselves (as was similarly the case when they dropped the bombs on Japan), in the case of cloning and stem cell research they do not (as was the case with nuclear power) have the power to enforce restrictions on the research and use of related technologies. For the most part, this will be for the better.

This page will be periodically updated and the ideology above more supported. For now, check out the links on the right for more information on cloning and stem cells.
